Cartoon Saturday

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange claims no one has been harmed by his huge exposure of secret US government documents, even though Taliban representatives have announced they are searching those documents for the identities of Afghans working with the Americans so they can be "punished;" arson is suspected in a wildfire in Israel which has devastated more than 7,400 acres and continues to burn; Senate Republicans have demonstrated their commitment to good governance and bipartisan statesmanship by pledging to block every single action until their agenda has been met; at least 15 people have been killed and scores injured in seven bomb attacks across Iraq; and a criminal investigation has been launched into the discovery of eight sets of human remains found in a single grave at Arlington National Cemetery.

There isn't much to laugh at in the news, but Cartoon Saturday does its best to help you cope.

One of my favorite comic strips is "Shoe" ... which always seems to hit the proverbial nail right on the head ...

This cartoon goes back a year or so, but still applies (see the news story linked in today's news summary above) ...

If you've had the joy of dealing with contractors for home renovations, you can appreciate these two cartoons ...

And ...
If you watch shows like "CSI: (insert city here)," "Law and Order," or any of the other 87 gazillion police crime shows on television, you know all about sketch artists. They've actually been around for a long time ...

Take a while to train ...

And are just as subject to layoffs as everyone else ...

The weather here in Northern Virginia should be nice, if cold, this weekend, so I'll have to think of something nice and warm to do. Burning Congress in effigy comes to mind.

It's not like there isn't enough hot air in this town already.

Have a good day. More thoughts tomorrow.
